Scholarship Information and Application

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center’s Foundation Health Career Scholarships are funded by sales from the hospital’s two gift shops, from proceeds through the Hospital’s employee giving campaign and from philanthropic donors in the community. The number of scholarships awarded each year is determined by the PeaceHealth Southwest Scholarship Committee, taking into account available funds and qualifications of the applicants. Awards range from $1,000 to $6,000 each and are renewable pending reapplication and approval.

Each year, the scholarship application period is from early January to early April. In mid-April, the Scholarship Committee meets to review the applications and select the scholarship recipients for the following school year. The scholarships are awarded at an annual Scholarship Awards program in May. The funds are distributed to the colleges and universities in July.

The PeaceHealth Southwest Scholarship Committee considers and determines scholarship awards in the following categories: PeaceHealth Southwest Caregiver Scholarships

  • PeaceHealth Southwest caregivers who wish to advance their careers have an opportunity to apply for a scholarship. Caregivers may do this by taking accredited courses in a desired health care field, by pursuing a career in a health related field, or by enhancing their skills through a graduate program. PHSW caregivers should have worked for the hospital a minimum of six (6) months and may be either full-time or part-time. This scholarship cannot be used to replace funds available from the hospital for education, but can be used in conjunction with such funds.

  • PeaceHealth Southwest Adult and Junior Volunteer Scholarships
These scholarships may be awarded to qualified graduating PeaceHealth Southwest Junior Volunteers who are graduating high school, who intend to go into a health related field and have been accepted at an accredited college. Adult volunteers who may be returning to college and have been accepted and/or are enrolled in college level health related field(s) may also apply.

  • PeaceHealth Southwest General Health Career Scholarships
These scholarships are open to local high school graduating seniors accepted into an accredited college of their choice, or returning college students residing in Clark, Skamania, Lewis, Wahkiakum, or Cowlitz counties. Applicants must be pursuing a course of study relevant to health care in either an undergraduate or graduate program, and demonstrate how their classes and course work will potentially benefit PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. (Dentistry, naturopathy, chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture, and other professions that are not currently employed at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center are not eligible for consideration.)
