Learn more about me... While serving 2 years in the Navy as a medical officer on a battleship, Dr Baker spent time in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in Desert Storm as well as 20 other countries. After these international experiences, he went into private practice for 6 years.
In addition to his work as a part-time faculty for FMSW, Dr. Baker developed and directs a local church-based primary care clinic for patients with no insurance. Through his church, he has enjoyed humanitarian medical trips to Southern Africa and Kenya. Since 1999, he has helped in the development of a rural community health program in Papua (formerly Irian Jaya), Indonesia. He is also the director of the Summer Medical Institute in Vancouver, a faith-based project in which he takes a medical team to Papua each summer to help with medical care in remote tribal villages. His many travels and additional specialized training have given him an interest in travel medicine consulting at FMSW. Advice, immunizations, and prophylactic medications are readily available to patients planning travel to foreign countries.
In his free time, Dr. Baker loves hiking, camping, and soccer with his family. He is married with 2 children.
