Interests Learn more about me...
I see one of my greatest responsibilities as ensuring that patients are able to make informed decisions about their care. That requires teaching patients and explaining the subtleties and complexity of each individuals situation. In the ICU that often involves frequent discussions with family members so they can make decisions for the patient who may too critically ill to speak for themself. I've found that trust is built on a foundation of respect and keep that in mind every day as I work to develop a partnership with my patients to help manage their pulmonary or critical care problems.
Outside of work I enjoy running, cycling and overseas travel. At home I enjoy breathing back life into old classic vehicles. I was a certified master mechanic before I returned to college and decided on a medical career. I also like experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes and sharing meals with friends.
