The
Internet is full of health-related information. Some of the Web sites offer
reliable information while others may be questionable. You can usually find
reliable information at:
- Sites with ".edu," which are usually produced by a
major educational institution, including universities and medical schools;
- Sites with ".gov," produced by government agencies;
- Sites produced by hospitals, medical centers, and
many reputable national health organization (American Heart Association,
National Cancer Institute, etc.); and
- Sites with ".org,", produced by nonprofit organizations (Note: Not all nonprofit organizations use the ".org" extension, so check carefully.)
Information from other sites should be reviewed carefully and discussed with your primary care provider.
