Pharmacy Practice (PGY1) Residency Program

Pharmacy Practice (PGY1) Residents at PeaceHealth Southwest have a wide variety of acute and ambulatory rotations to choose from. Residents have the flexibility to choose the combination of rotations that will best suit their needs. The only stipulation is that the resident must complete at least 12 weeks each of acute care and ambulatory rotations.

  • Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Glycemic Control

Ambulatory Care Setting

  • Ambulatory Pharmacy Practice
  • Family Medicine Clinics
  • Hospice Services
  • Oncology/Cancer Center
  • Outpatient Services
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Prescription Benefit Management
  • Disease State Management

The following longitudinal experiences are required but are completed over the course of the year.

Foundation Skill Training/Practice Management

Pharmacy Student Precepting
   • Students regularly rotate through from Washington and Oregon Colleges of Pharmacy
   • Extent of precepting generally up to each resident
   • Optional teaching certificate available through participation in Portland Citywide Program

Pharmacy Management
   • Meet for 1 hour every week to discuss management issues
   • A specific administration/management or pharmacy informatics rotation may be done as an elective

Drug Information
   • Completion of 2 medication use evaluations
   • Preparation and presentation of a drug monograph to P&T
   • Formal evaluation of 12 drug information responses

Major Project

Stipend

  • $49,000 per year.
