Learn more about me... Dr. Hoffelt graduated from MIT in engineering and then continued on to the University of Colorado School of Medicine for his medical degree. After his residency at Oregon Health and Science University he went to work for the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, which is one of the first and most active Cyberknife Centers in the country. Dr. Hoffelt has treated over 400 cases with this emerging technology and has presented his experience at national meetings. He continues his work at Southwest Washington Medical Center with the only Cyberknife Center in the Portland area.
The Cyberknife is an innovative technology capable of delivering highly accurate and conformal radiation treatments without the use of a frame for immobilization, and is well-suited and effective for trigeminal neuralgia. It can also treat tumors at any body site, including skull base, lung, liver, pancreas, prostate, bladder, cervix, and uterus.
In addition to CyberKnife stereotactic body radiotherapy, Dr. Hoffelt has published literature regarding lung, prostate, gynecological cancers, and has spoken at national meetings regarding radiosurgery for pancreas cancer. He is also experienced in IMRT, prostate brachytherapy, breast brachytherapy, HDR and LDR brachytherapy for other disease sites, and intracavitary coronary artery brachytherapy.
