Opportunities for Volunteering

... in the Medical Center

There are over 50 service areas affiliated with PeaceHealth Southwest that volunteers support throughout the Medical Center and the community. If you choose to be a volunteer, you would be scheduled and assigned based upon sites that are available and your personal commitment. Volunteers typically serve one four-hour shift per week. You may request a particular service site, but we cannot guarantee that your request will be fulfilled.

In addition to many clerical functions, volunteers may also provide emotional support to patients, guests and families. These areas include:
  • The Emergency Department
  • Family Birth Center
  • Inpatient Surgery Information Specialist
  • Same Day Surgical Services
  • ICU and CVICU
  • Nursing Units
  • Physical Therapy
  • Heart and Vascular Services
  • Pharmacy
  • Urgency Care Clinic
  • Wheel Chair Transport and Escort
  • Lobby Information & Reception
  • Gift Shop
A popular area that volunteers enjoy supporting is fundraising in our two Gift Shops. Net proceeds from the Gift Shops are earmarked for health career scholarships.

Volunteers provide important services at the many Information Desks throughout the hospital and the Memorial campus. They greet and escort guests and patients, assist with admitting, give directions, and deliver flowers.
