Your help makes a difference.

While many of the programs and departments at Southwest rely in part on philanthropic support, the Foundation focuses on a few each year in order to raise the most funds for what has been determined to be the Medical Center’s most critical needs. Which of the following are you most interested in?

Holtzman Twins Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: Do you know about the power of pink? Pink Power, a volunteer-driven fundraising movement, raised more than $4 million to build our community's state-of-the-art Kearney Breast Center. On September 23, 2010, Pink Power will host "It's Vegas, Baby!" at the Vancouver Hilton hotel to raise $600,000 to equip the 8 private rooms in our new Holtzman Twins Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  This new facility will ensure that the tiniest, most premature babies will be able to remain here where they were born, near their mothers and families, for the care they need to survive and thrive.  Buy your ticket today for Pink Power's "It's Vegas, Baby!" at www.pinkpowersw.org or make a gift of support

Patient Care Endowments: As John D. Rockefeller said “Giving is investing.” Endowments are long-term investments that keep on giving. They are the best way to ensure that a program or department continues to thrive due to ongoing cash flow.

Endowments begin with a certain amount of money, that remains unspent. That money is carefully invested, and the interest earned is that amount that is spent each year toward the program or cause. To start an endowment requires at least $25,000. You could set one up in your name or that of a loved one. Endowments are a great way to ensure that your name or that of someone you love continues on far into the future. For more information about these critical opportunities, e-mail Foundation Director Jean Rahn. Continued contributions to existing endowment funds are vital as they help grow the amount of money generated each year for that program.

Vulnerable Patient Care: In these challenging economic times, Southwest is caring for more men, women, children and babies who do not have health insurance. Your support is critical in ensuring that people who need it most can get the care they need. Many are hard-working families who are cared for at our Family Medicine of Southwest Washington clinic. Southwest is one of the only places offering in-patient mental health care through our Behavioral Health program. And our Mother Joseph Charity Care Endowment helps ensure that anyone needing care can get it far into the future.
