An important part of the Southwest expansion project is the campus beautification plan. A large expanse of manicured lawn spreads across the front of the property along Mill Plain Boulevard.

The parklike setting features flowing ribbons of plants and shrubs intertwined throughout the lawn. The ribbons feature a variety of perennial and annual plants to add an impressive array of color throughout the year.

The new landscape design will be open and inviting, offering a clear view of much of the campus.

Plans also call for a series of walking paths throughout the prooperty to encourage the public to meander through the area.

More than 267 new trees of several varieties will be planted. That results in more trees than are on the campus now  Click here to download large version of tree graphic.

More than 3,000 new shrubs and plants will add a colorful ribbon flowing through an expansive grassy area as well as  hang from the parking structure. Click here to download large version of plant graphic above.

Several Healing Gardens will be located around the campus for those who need quiet, serene settings.

Some trees on the campus will be removed to make way for construction and for the safety of patients who arrive by Life Flight. As Southwest Washington’s largest trauma center, we must preserve this life-saving service. Trees will be removed from the south and west sides of the Medical Center campus.

The campus beautification plan will begin when construction nears completion.
