Southwest Medical Group Becoming PeaceHealth Medical Group
12/15/2011
Southwest Medical Group (SMG) primary and specialty care clinics will transition officially to PeaceHealth Medical Group (PHMG) on Monday, January 2, 2012. The name change will be featured on new signage inside and outside of each clinic location in Clark County and will also be highlighted as part of a local media campaign. The new affiliation is expected to increase access to care for residents of southwest Washington through the development of community based networks of care. An expanded primary and specialty care network will provide high quality, coordinated health care services and providers, close to home.
“Together we will build upon our collective expertise and resources for the benefit of all southwest Washington communities. We believe there are significant clinical, service, and growth opportunities that will be realized as a result of joining PeaceHealth Medical Group,” said Robin Virgin, MD, Medical Director, PeaceHealth Medical Group. “We look forward to continue providing the same extraordinary care to our patients while we work together as a larger system to prepare for the future health care needs of our community.”
As part of the PeaceHealth system, Southwest Medical Group will be better positioned to finance long-term investments in information technology, building improvements and patient care equipment. SMG and PHMG share a common vision for continuous improvement in patient safety and quality. From a stewardship and social justice perspective, both organizations also strongly believe that the affiliation will allow us to deliver better care more cost-effectively to all members of the southwest Washington community, regardless of their ability to pay.
“PeaceHealth Medical Group is pleased to finalize our affiliation with Southwest Medical Group. Combining our resources will strengthen the entire medical group and provide added benefit to the southwest Washington community,” said Howard Graman, MD, FACP, CEO of PeaceHealth Medical Group.
