Medical College of Wisconsin

Martin was born in Pocatello, Idaho and lived there for 6 years. He was mistakenly packaged in a shipment of russets and spent time in Missouri, Nebraska, Texas, and finally Seattle. Showing great resilience, he was able to graduate on time from Redmond High School in Washington. A bachelors degree from University of Washington soon followed. While educating, he learned the trade of plumbing and explored a career teaching English as a second language in Japan and Korea. One too many leaky faucets in the Far East prompted a return to the States for medical school.

Carrying a strong belief that a person's youth impacts on future quality of life leads him to focus on pediatrics and adolescent medicine.

Dr. Oates is a 2006 graduate of FMSW and service as our Chief Resident for 2005-2006.  We are very please that he stayed with us as faculty.

Out of the clinic, Martin loves being active outdoors. He particularly enjoys spending time with his wife and 5 kids bicycling, hiking, camping, and sack races.
