Healthcare Design Magazine bestows national architectural honor on new patient tower
October 4, 2007

The E.W. and Mary Firstenburg Tower at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center earned rave reviews from another national health care magazine. The Firstenburg Tower was featured on the front cover of the 2007 Architectural Showcase publication of Healthcare Design Magazine.

PeaceHealth Southwest is one of nine Citation of Merit winners recognized by a 14-person panel of health care architects.

Honored in the Integrated Practice Facility category, the Firstenburg Tower received accolades for its Heart & Vascular Center, one of the only hospitals in the country with fully integrated catheterization labs equipped to handle cardiovascular, open-heart surgery, neurology, and interventional radiology all in one location. The Firstenburg Tower was also praised for its attention to detail and special amenities that improve the overall experience for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.

Just two other Northwest medical facilities—Providence Newberg Medical Center and WellSpring Medical Center in Woodburn, OR—received a Citation of Merit from Healthcare Design Magazine. The Firstenburg Tower and Providence Newberg are also recent Award of Excellence winners from Modern Healthcare Magazine.
